Minyoung Choi is a London based artist. Her work has a dreamlike quality that could easily be set in the novels of Haruki Murakami; strong images that are eerie and absurd – sometimes with a touch of fairytales and cartoons. Choi’s paintings are dominated by the memories of her childhood in Seoul, South Korea. Although her images seem to suggest a narrative, in her opinion the most important aspect is the mood it creates, as well as how things are placed and painted. Choi’s practice includes painting, drawing, and poetry.
