Damien Cadio (1975, Mont Saint-Aigan) has a classical point of view when it comes to painting. It’s easy to compare his art with still-life in the tradition of the Dutch masters. That’s what makes his work so interesting. For inspiration he searches the internet for images he can use in his work. Cardio says: ‘By painting them I rip them out of their context and restore their aura.’ In his eyes the contemporary image doesn’t have the same value as it had before in the past. Who could blame him when the average number of pictures for a Google search lies in the millions. Cadio wants to revalue imagery in these flattening online image libraries.
